Marketplace Assistant now supports the VIN field throughout the vehicle-listing copy workflow. When a VIN is present in the seller's original Facebook Marketplace listing, the extension can read it, retain it with the copied vehicle data, show it in the preview, and enter it into the new listing draft.
The update is designed to preserve Facebook's own vehicle-identification behavior while reducing another piece of repetitive data entry. As with every copied field, the VIN remains part of a reviewable draft and should be verified before publication.

Facebook provides a dedicated VIN text field in both the existing vehicle-listing editor and the new vehicle-listing form. Marketplace Assistant now recognizes that field as part of the supported vehicle information.
The value travels through the same workflow as the other supported listing details: it is collected from the selected active listing, stored with the listing data, shown in the extension preview, and applied to the new draft.
Empty VIN fields are skipped
Not every Marketplace vehicle listing contains a VIN. If the source field is blank, Marketplace Assistant does not invent a value and does not stop the rest of the workflow. It simply skips VIN entry and continues with the available information.
This keeps the behavior predictable for older listings and vehicles where the VIN was not entered originally. The seller can still add or correct the VIN manually in the draft when appropriate.
Why VIN is filled before the other vehicle fields
Facebook may use the VIN to identify a vehicle and automatically populate related fields. If make, model, year, or other vehicle information were entered first, that automatic identification could replace values that Marketplace Assistant had already copied.
The updated workflow therefore fills the VIN first. After Facebook has had an opportunity to identify the vehicle, Marketplace Assistant fills the remaining supported fields. This order helps protect the copied make, model, and other vehicle information from being overwritten during form completion.
The final accuracy check remains with the dealer
A VIN is a precise vehicle identifier, so the seller should compare it with the actual vehicle or dealership records before publishing. Marketplace Assistant prepares the draft but does not certify that information in the original listing was correct.
The extension still does not publish automatically. Review the VIN, year, make, model, mileage, price, condition, photos, and optional Facebook fields before performing the final Publish action.
