Marketplace Assistant 2.56.1 Build Notes: Earlier Facebook Language Checks

The 2.56.1 build adds earlier Facebook interface-language detection, clearer guidance, and a direct website link inside Marketplace Assistant.

Marketplace Assistant currently depends on the English Facebook interface because Marketplace field names and controls vary by language. Previously, a seller could begin the workflow with another Facebook language selected and discover the mismatch only after the extension had already tried to find or copy a listing.

The 2.56.1 build improves that experience by checking the Facebook page language earlier and explaining what needs to change before the main workflow continues.

Practical checklist

  • Detect the language declared by the current Facebook page
  • Show a clear English (US) status inside the side panel
  • Stop the workflow early when an unsupported language is detected
  • Provide the exact Facebook settings path for changing the language
  • Add a direct link from the extension to the Marketplace Assistant website

Why early validation is better

A useful error message should appear before the user spends time waiting for a process that cannot finish reliably. The updated check runs before listing discovery and again before copying when the active Facebook tab can be inspected.

When the detected interface is not English, the extension explains that Facebook should be changed through Settings & privacy, Language and region, and Facebook language. After switching to English (US), the seller can reload the tab and try again.

A more stable way to identify the interface language

The build reads the language information declared by the Facebook page instead of guessing from one translated button. If the primary page language is unavailable, it can use the page locale as a fallback. This is less dependent on a particular Marketplace layout or label.

The check does not read a Facebook password. It runs inside the already open Facebook page and reports whether the interface appears compatible with the current extension workflow.

What sellers still need to do

The extension interface itself can be displayed in English, Spanish, or Russian, but Facebook must currently remain in English (US). Sellers should also confirm they are signed in to the correct account and are viewing their own active Marketplace listings.

Does changing Facebook to English change my listing description?
