Meta's new Seller app is a useful place to manage Marketplace inventory, messages, listing performance, and existing listings. Meta says sellers can view, edit, relist, and manage their inventory from the app. For general Marketplace management, that is a meaningful improvement.
For an independent auto dealer, however, the most important question is not whether an app has a button labeled Relist. The important question is what happens to the vehicle listing after that button is used.

Facebook Relist refreshes the existing listing
The built-in Facebook Relist action can give an existing listing another opportunity to receive attention, but it does not necessarily create a separate new vehicle listing. In the dealer workflow we tested, the vehicle remained the same listing and continued to display its earlier age, such as being posted seven days ago.
The new Seller app officially includes inventory management and a Relist action, but Meta's public product announcement does not say that Relist duplicates every automotive field and photo into a separate, editable vehicle draft with a new publication date.
Marketplace Assistant creates a fresh draft instead
Marketplace Assistant is designed for a different job. It reads supported information from one of the dealer's own active vehicle listings and prepares a separate Facebook Marketplace vehicle draft. The workflow can copy the title, price, description, location, VIN, supported vehicle information, and up to 20 available photos.
The original listing is not simply bumped. The dealer receives a new draft that can be checked and updated. Nothing is published automatically, and the seller remains responsible for the final Publish action.
A new publication date is the practical difference
When the dealer reviews and publishes the fresh draft, it becomes a newly published Marketplace listing. Instead of continuing to show the age of the old listing, Facebook can display a new-listing indicator such as 'Listed just now.' This is the core difference between refreshing an existing listing and creating a new one from existing vehicle data.
A new publication date does not guarantee a higher search position, a specific number of views, more messages, or a sale. Facebook controls distribution, and results depend on inventory, price, location, photos, demand, account history, and other factors.

Use Facebook Seller when you want a dedicated mobile workspace for managing inventory, messages, performance, edits, and the built-in Relist action. It is broader Marketplace management software from Meta.
Use Marketplace Assistant when the goal is to turn an existing active vehicle listing into a separate, pre-filled draft on desktop Chrome without downloading photos or retyping the vehicle information. The products overlap, but they solve different parts of the selling workflow.
